A transit thief recently released from prison was busted again over the weekend in another subway theft — after going “right back to his old ways,” police said Wednesday.
Anthony McLaurin, 30, was spotted by cops around 2:15 a.m. Sunday allegedly trying to pickpocket a 28-year-old woman as she slept at the Flushing Main Street subway stop in Queens, according to the NYPD.
He was arrested and charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly carrying a knife.
McLaurin, of The Bronx, was out on parole at the time, having been set free on Aug. 17 after serving two years of a five-year sentence for a pair of subway robberies, according to cops and prison records.
The alleged accomplice, Alejandro Rojas, 26, was also arrested, police said. McLaurin’s parole is set to expire in 2027.
He has 14 other prior arrests for similar crimes, including robbery, assault, grand larceny, and resisting arrest, police said.
“A man who was recently paroled for transit robberies went right back to his old ways,” the NYPD said in a tweet. “Early Sunday morning, @NYPDtransit officers spotted the man with his hands in the pocket of a person sleeping on the subway while an accomplice acted as a lookout.”
