The Albuquerque Police Department says a West Mesa student was killed Friday morning after a shooting happened near West Mesa High School off-campus. Police say the search for the suspect, who is believed to be a juvenile continues.
APD says the shooting happened after 8 a.m. right across the street from West Mesa’s football field. They say the student killed was at school and then left campus. The suspect is not in custody at this time, but they believe they are looking for a juvenile. They also believe they know who they are but are waiting for some more information before taking that person into custody.
APD says they are still questioning witnesses. It is unknown at this time if the victim and suspect knew each other or if there had been any confrontations prior to the shooting.
No other information has been released at this time.
