Stolen High Performance Cars Recovered
Over the last several weeks the Tupelo Police Department and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit have recovered 4 stolen vehicles with Fraudulent Vehicle Identification Numbers.
All 4 were Dodge Charger Hell Cat editions.
These vehicles are high performance 700+ horsepower vehicles that can retail for over $100,000 each. Jurisdictions around the country have seen an increase in thefts and recoveries of these type vehicles.
A gray Dodge Charger Hell Cat was recovered on 07-19-2022 during an arrest and on 07-20-2022 a blue Dodge Charger Hell Cat was seized during a search warrant on Hilda Driver. (see previous releases)
A silver Dodge Charger Hell Cat was seized on 07-21-2022 after information was provided to TPD that it was stolen and using fraudulent titles. This case is still being investigated.
An orange Dodge Charger Hell Cat was also seized on 07-21-2022 when information was provided to TPD that it was in Tupelo and using a stolen or fraudulent VIN.
The driver had legally purchased the vehicle but the car was titled and sold using fraudulent papers and had been stolen from Georgia. That case is being investigated as well.
These cases can be challenging due to the differing title laws and ownership paperwork each state uses.
Anyone purchasing a vehicle should study all documents provided to them carefully. Remember if a deal is to good to be true it probably is.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact TPD at 662-841-6491, tpdrecords@tupeloms.gov
