A standoff with multiple law enforcement agencies ended after the suspect shot himself on Saturday.
The Frio County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers, Pearsall Police and the Dilley Police Department all mobilized in an effort to locate a man believed to have committed a murder in Pearsall on Saturday. The suspect was found at a home on Merle Street in Dilley and officers tried to make contact with him.
After a short standoff, he drove off and tried to evade officers. A standoff with Texas Rangers then happened when the suspect came to a stop on Kinsel Street. Once again, the suspect was able to drive off, but this time he ran over spikes that had been placed to try and immobilize his vehicle. A short chase followed down Highway 85 just East of Houston Street. The suspect refused to take any calls from law enforcement.
Police say after a short time, a single gunshot was heard. Officers approached the vehicle and found the suspect injured from a self-inflicted gunshot. Officers performed CPR and rushed him by EMS to Frio Regional Hospital.
“Please keep all of the families involved in your thoughts. We mourn as a community during senseless tragedies,” Dilley Police Chief Homer said in a release.
