A woman who was stabbed at a Marathon gas station in Queensgate Monday says she’s lucky to be alive.
Officers responded around 12:10 a.m. Monday to a report of a woman stabbed in her back outside the Marathon gas station on West 8th Street.
The victim, Macey Nutter, is recovering after being stabbed twice in the random attack.
“The whole situation was just very traumatizing,” Nutter said.
The video shared by Cincinnati Police shows the suspect, now identified as James Roark, skipping over to Macey before stabbing her.
“I was driving a rental car, so I was unaware that when you put the car in park, the door doesn’t lock,” Nutter explained.
Nutter says it all happened within seconds. Roark didn’t say a word to her and only smiled as he attacked.
“All I can remember is him smiling at me at my door…opening my car door,” she recalls. “I didn’t even have time to like try to lock the doors or pull it shut or anything.”
Nutter said that the weapon used was a large kitchen knife. After stabbing her, she says that Roark quickly took off.
“The one doctor told me I was lucky I had so many layers of clothes on because where he stabbed me in my back, he got really close to my intestines,” says Nutter.
She says she is still a little bruised and sore but says she is going to make a full recovery.
“I am just very thankful I am alive. I am cherishing life just a little bit more now, you know. I am going to be very cautious of my surroundings at all times,” Nutter vows.
