Southwest DISASTER: How it unfolded
Southwest Airlines has suffered extensive cancellations “due to weather and other external constraints”, although CEO Gary C. Kelly says he is AGAINST vaccine mandates.
▪️Friday – Southwest’s union sues airline over vaccine mandate needed to keep govt contracts
▪️Saturday/Sunday – disruptions start as staff shortages, “air traffic control issues and the weather” forces SW to can over 2,000 flights. Other airlines cancel relatively few, SW did not comment on the disparity
▪️Monday – 348 more canceled and 303 delayed – but union DENIES a “sickout” in protest at jab mandate is the cause. Tucker Carlson claims disruptions ARE a direct consequence of federal mandates
▪️Tuesday – Another 87 flights cancelled as company shares drop to $51.88
