Southwest admits staffing shortages contributing to cancellations across US — vaccine mandate to blame?
Southwest Airlines has acknowledged staffing shortages have played a role in service disruptions that saw 1,124 flights canned Sunday and 326 flights Monday, according to airline tracker FlightAware.
“Unfortunately, the out-of-place aircraft and continued strain on our crew resources created additional cancelations across our point-to-point network that cascaded throughout the weekend and into Monday,” the company said in a statement.
The delays have caused speculation that some pilots and staff are participating in a work slowdown to show opposition to the company’s decision to mandate the Covid vaccine, a claim the airline denied.
Just a good-ol’-fashioned slowdown then?
