South Korea lockdown on Google & Apple payment commission
180 out of 188 attending lawmakers in South Korea voted to BAN Apple and Google from forcing software developers to use their payment system, for which the Big Tech giants charge up to 30% commission.
Not only will the law keep Big Tech hands out of the chunky payment commission pie, but it will also ban them from “inappropriately” delaying reviewing or deleting mobile content from their app stores.
An Apple statement claimed the move would hit Korean developers’ pockets – already filled by almost $7.4bn in earnings via the tech giant – as users’ trust in their services would decrease.
