South Korea believes a North Korean nuclear test could be imminent, president’s office put on 24-hour standby.
North Korea has carried out 6 nuclear tests so far, most recently in 2017. All of those happened underground and the expectation is that it will happen at the same site.
North Korea has ratcheted up tensions in recent weeks by conducting a series of ballistic missile launches, including one over Japan, flying warplanes and firing artillery shells into maritime buffer zones off its east and west coasts.
