South Carolina Man Charged With Murder For Shooting His Brother To Death
A 58-year-old South Carolina man is accused of shooting his brother to death at a Lugoff home Saturday night, according to reports.
Jimmy Lee Murphy, Jr. is charged with murder.
Kershaw County Coroner David West identified the victim as 69-year-old Mack Murry Murphy.
The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on October 11 at a home they shared in Lugoff.
According to the incident report, an argument about a bathroom light that was left on escalated and the two brother fought. The deceased male reportedly banged on the bedroom and pointed a gun in his brother’s face.
Murphy told deputies he grabbed the gun and the two wrestled for the gun. During the struggle, the gun went off multiple and the victim was struck in the chest.
In the incident report states that Murphy called the police to report the incident.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene.
He is currently being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center pending warrants and a bond hearing.
