Baltimore – Five people, including two children, were injured Saturday after a gunman or group of people opened fire Saturday evening in Baltimore.
Around 6:39 p.m. ET, Baltimore police from the Central District discovered four people with gunshot wounds close to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Laurens Street: two men, a woman, and a 2-year-old boy.
According to Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison, a 6-year-old child was in the car with the woman who was shot and has “critical” wounds after she slammed into a pole.
In the car with them was the 2-year-old.
Authorities are looking for a suspect. There have been no detentions.
Harrison called for witnesses, saying, “What we believed happened was a gunman or multiple gunmen opened fire.” We don’t know if the individuals in the car or those on the sidewalk were the intended targets.
In reference to the larger problem of gun violence in the city, which he called “criminal, cowardly acts,” he continued, “the only way we stop this and solve this is through community cooperation.”
