Kentucky – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of its reserve deputies who died in what is being investigated as an accidental shooting.
Jeffersontown police said Marion “Scott” Fawbush, 60, died after an incident in his car a little before 5 p.m. on Wednesday after he had finished working a detail. Police said his gun went off, and the bullet hit an artery in his leg.
Police said the shooting appears accidental, but the investigation is ongoing.
Fawbush served 31 years in the Army, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major. He joined the sheriff’s office in 2016 and in 2022 was named reserve deputy of the year.
He appeared in recruitment commercials for the sheriff’s office that aired on WDRB in recent years.
