SEC Chair: America Won’t BAN Crypto Like China
Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler has stated the US will not follow China’s lead in banning digital tokens, adding any block would probably have to be legislated by Congress.
Gensler said at a House hearing Tuesday that the govt focus is on ensuring that the industry adheres to investor and consumer protection rules, plus anti-money laundering and tax laws.
His comments echo those of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, who told a congressional hearing last month he had “no intention” of barring cryptocurrencies.
