Saudi Arabia intimidated UN using “incentives & threats” to shut down investigation in Yemen
Saudi officials reportedly campaigned to shut down a UN investigation into human rights violations committed by all sides in the conflict in Yemen.
The effort ultimately appeared to succeed when the UN Human Rights Council voted in October against extending the independent war crimes investigations.
Political officials with knowledge of the campaign effort to get it shut down, say Saudi Arabia used “incentives and threats” to influence investigators into shutting down the tribunal.
