Russia Claims “Retaliation” Missile Strike Kills 600 Ukrainian Soldiers; Ukraine Denies Death Count
The Russian Defence Ministry is claiming that 600 Ukrainian troops have been killed in a Kremlin strike.
The department reportedly hit what was described as a temporary barracks with a massive rocket attack.
Sky News military sources in Donetsk have dismissed Russian claims that 600 Ukrainian troops have been killed.
Additionally, CNN reported that Ukraine on Sunday (Jan. 8) denied Moscow’s death count claim.
“Russian army attacked Kramatorsk with seven missiles at 23.30 yesterday. But it did not have any impact on the Ukrainian army.”
“This is nonsense,” Serhii Cherevatyi,a spokesman for Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, told CNN in a response to the Russian claim. “The Russian information is not true.”
A CNN team on the ground claims to have seen no indication of any mass casualty event in the area.
