Reports of multiple law enforcement officers shot in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, suspect barricaded

An active shooter situation is unfolding west of Gretna in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, where a possible ex-Marine is reportedly barricaded inside a home.

At least four deputies have been shot, according to Southside News Today, with one airlifted to a hospital.

A massive multi-agency response is underway, including SWAT teams and a police negotiator, as scanner traffic reports tense ongoing developments at the scene.

There’s a heavy police presence on Hampstead Drive, and several helicopters have been dispatched to the scene.

It’s been reported that there is an active shooter situation with a possible ex-Marine barricaded in a home.

Update* Multiple deputies have been shot west of Gretna in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, prompting a major emergency response.

WSET reports a news crew is en route to the scene, while scanner traffic confirms a large-scale deployment of agencies, including Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, Bedford, Amherst, and Campbell County Sheriffs, as well as Bedford and Danville Police. Fire and EMS units from Gretna and Hurt are also on scene.

Authorities have confirmed the incident is an officer-involved shooting.
