Reports of a shooting at the Florida Mall are unfounded, police say
Reports of a shooting at the Florida Mall are unfounded. There was an accidental discharge of a firearm and the only person injured is the person who was handling the firearm.
From OCSO: On February 16, 2025, around 3:00 p.m., deputies responded to the Florida Mall in regards to an accidental discharge. Upon arrival, deputies located a man in his 20s who had accidentally shot himself while adjusting his firearm.
He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no threat to the community.
