Putin hits back at accusations Russia triggered Europe’s energy crisis – EU policy at fault, despite near-record Russian supplies
Here’s what the Russian president had to say at an energy development meeting:
▪️EC policy of curtailing long-term gas supply contracts a mistake, but Russia may break energy supply records to Europe at current pace
▪️Gazprom has never refused gas supply increase requests from foreign consumers, but it must satisfy all parties on a commercial basis
▪️Gazprom has increased gas pumping through Ukraine by 8% in 9 months, exceeding obligations, but it’s unprofitable to up supplies, since new systems are cheaper by about $3 billion a year.
▪️New gas pipeline systems reduce CO2 emissions by 5.6 times compared to the old ones.
