On any given day, Walton County Sheriff’s Office reads comments, receives calls, fields complaints, and gets waved down on busy roadways about speeding and just bad drivers in general in Walton County.
They aren’t special to the area. Bad drivers are native to Earth in general.
While it makes for great late-night reading, sliding into our DMs on social is not the appropriate way to report reckless driving or hit on someone for that matter.
Our Twitter and Instagram aren’t monitored 24/7 and if it’s an emergency, it may not be seen for hours or days. Yes, Public Information Officers sleep too, despite our superhuman powers.
To deter some of the Fast and Furious 17 (or whatever number we are on) reenactments along county roads we have brought out a speed trailer to educate folks regarding speed limits on certain roads.
On May 19, 2022, just before midnight, Walton County Sheriff’s Office received a call about our speed trailer that was flipped into a ditch near the intersection of 393 and West Wilson Street.
When deputies arrived, they located the trailer and damaged solar panel.
The trailer was flipped back over using an agency truck and winch. Someone didn’t like our idea and decided destruction of property was the way they were going to express their thoughts.
We’re sure there is some video of a productive member of society bragging about how cool he is floating around on TikTok or Snappy Snap.
