Bunkie, La – According to Bunkie Police Department, on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 10:07 pm, dispatch received a phone call of a shooting that took place at the intersection of Ebony Street and South Chestnut Street.
Before the complaint, Bunkie PD officers heard several gunshots fired from that area.
Officers and emergency personnel responded to the location and found a pregnant female victim who sustained gun shot wounds while driving her vehicle.
While investigating the scene, eyewitnesses identified Olivia M. Day and her husband, Katchtrin O. Day, as being present in another vehicle at the exact location of the shooting.
Both Olivia Day and Katchtrin Day fled the scene after the incident but were both later apprehended.
The female victim was rushed to Bunkie General Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds sustained.
It was discovered that the female victim was approximately 32 weeks pregnant and that the unborn baby had perished due to the mother’s injuries from the shooting.
The female victim was later transferred to Rapides Regional Hospital in Alexandria.
The victim is in critical condition at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
The following are the charges on the two suspects that were arrested:
Olivia M. Day Age: 39 of Bunkie, LA
- 2 Counts of Attempted First Degree Murder
- 1 Count of Illegal Use of a Weapon
- 1 Count of First Degree Feticide
- 1 Count of Aggravated Criminal Damage To Property
- 1 Count of Obstruction of Justice
Katchtrin O. Day Age: 32 of Bunkie, LA
- 1 Count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- 1 Count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
Information on the victim is not being released at this time due to the investigation is still ongoing and also out of respect to the victim’s family.
