Construction workers found Cooper’s body on Nov. 19, 2021, in a grassy area behind a recreation center in Clearwater. Gualtieri said the medical examiner determined Cooper died from a lethal dose of fentanyl. In the news conference, Gualtieri said that while Cooper was a known cocaine user, she was not known to use heroin or fentanyl, a deadlier derivative of the drug.
Gullo lived near Cooper at the time of her death, Gualtieri said. Gullo, who is currently serving a 40-month sentence for lewd and lascivious behavior on a child under 14 in Hernando County, was out of jail on bond for the Hernando County charges on Nov. 19, 2021.
“Gullo sexually preyed on young teenage girls who he met online, and befriended them by furnishing them drugs for sex,” Gualtieri said at the news conference.
