Fire crews are on the scene of a blaze 10 miles Southeast of Carrington, North Dakota, after multiple car fires broke out following a train derailment.
The Carrington Fire Department tells us that the fire began around 3:45 a.m. Friday, July 5th and is still active at this time.
Officials say the locomotive is not on fire, but cars on the scene still are.
Carrington resident Doug Zink says the fire broke out about five miles Southeast of his farm.
Zink reports as many as 30 cars up in flames, accompanied by clouds of black smoke.
Zink also reports of a possible ammonia release from the fire, and while scanner traffic indicated the presence of a possible hazmat team on the scene, this has not yet been confirmed.
