Lynnwood police expect to arrest more people involved in stealing and destroying approximately $450,000 worth of merchandise from Ulta stores between Washington and Oregon since June 2022.
So far, the Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force, with the assistance of the Lynnwood Police Department, arrested a 26-year-old woman for robbery and organized retail theft on Dec. 28, 2023.
Shoppers in the Lynnwood area told KOMO News they’re furious to hear these things happening.
“It’s just a lot of crime and a lot of stealing and I’m tired of it,” said Samantha Conlan who was shopping in the area.
Police said the woman and her accomplices used violence and intimidation tactics during incidents while damaging glass, destroying fixtures, and threatening staff and customers with bear spray. Luckily no one was physically injured in said incidents.
“I would hope people can actually get stopped cause I know that this is a nationwide issue and everyone is just stealing cause the workers can’t chase them out or call or do anything,” said Anastin Lindsay, a frequent shopper.
Investigators have characterized the woman’s actions as chaotic and a serious threat to retailers and the public. Shoppers said they’re glad police made an arrest.
“You shouldn’t be stealing from any stores especially around here during the holiday season so I think it’s right to arrest that person,” said Carlos Abad, a shopper nearby.
People told us they want to see more police presence in these stores.
