They victim was identified as 51-year-old Clinton Dorsey.
This comes after police said a local therapist, Travis McBride, shot and killed the man. McBride appeared in court Friday and is being held without bond on a first-degree, premeditated murder.
The initial call came in Thursday morning.
“There’s been a murder that happened,” the caller said. “We got a couple of eyewitnesses, and I believe– the person right now he’s looking at the road, cleaning up the blood off the ground.”
While there’s no clear motive just yet, the DeLand police chief shared details about their relationship.
He confirms the victim was found in the trunk of McBride’s car.
Witnesses saw this unfold.
“OK, where did he take it?” the 911 dispatcher asked.
The caller then responded:
“I don’t know. I just saw him drag the body across the road. He put it in his car, and then he left. And then he came back, and not even 10 minutes ago he started scrubbing the road, and now I see him in the yard with a flashlight looking around.”
McBride was found near where the shooting took place. He also worked and lived in a shopping center nearby.
WESH was there Thursday when investigators shattered the window and entered.
