Police reportedly shot a suspect near the secure zone of the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee
Police from Ohio have reportedly shot and killed a suspect in Milwaukee, about a mile from the Republican National Convention.
The officers, from Columbus, were in town as added security at the convention.
According to sister station WISN, police reportedly shot and killed a person near near 14th and Vliet streets in Milwaukee, which is about 1.2 miles from Fiserv Forum, the main RNC venue.
Witnesses told WISN 12 News two men were fighting in King Park, and one of them pulled a knife out.
The witnesses said the men were startled when so many officers responded. Witnesses say the man with the knife was fired on by numerous officers.
This has not yet been confirmed by police.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed at 2:50 p.m. that it was called to the scene and one man died.
