Rowlett Police received a report of 2 injured women at the Valero gas station located at 1600 block of Dalrock Rd. Rowlett, Rockwall Co., Texas.
Rowlett Police officers arrived and found a 31 year old female victim and a 24 year old female victim both suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim told responding officers that they had been shot by her boyfriend, Keith Richmond (34 years old).
Suspect Keith Richmond had fled the scene in a gold vehicle.
Rowlett Police Officers and Communication Officers were able to quickly locate a Garland, Texas address for the suspect.
Rowlett Police requested the assistance from the Garland Police Department.
Garland Police officers were extremely busy themselves yet several units who were working a fireworks detail responded immediately for our call to aid and rushed to the Garland address where they located Keith standing outside in the parking lot next to the gold vehicle described by witnesses as the getaway vehicle.
After a short foot chase, Garland Police detained Keith until Rowlett Police arrived and took custody of him and seized his gold vehicle.
Both females were transported to a local hospital with RPD and RFD utilizing everything at their disposal to enact life saving measures to preserve the lives of the victims.
Unfortunately, due to trauma caused by the gunshots, the 31 year old victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The 24 year old is being treated for her gun shot wounds and is expected to survive.
Keith Richmond is in the Rowlett City Jail and will be charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family violence. Keith Richmond has a violent past to include a prior charge of Murder.
Thanks to our officers quick actions, our Communications Officers diligence to gather intel and the ever helpful and extremely accommodating brothers and sisters at Garland PD even while on special assignments, we can begin to provide closure to the family of the victims.
The victim’s names are being withheld as the family has time to notify all relatives and allow them this time to heal both physically and emotionally.
