RawNews1st – at approximately 11:00 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Court Ave, in the community of Clearfield Village for the report of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they located an 80-year-old victim who reported that while he was looking for an item in his car, he was approached by three black males who had parked a white SUV in the middle of the road.
The suspects implied that they had a firearm and ordered the victim out of his vehicle. As the victim began to exit, one of the suspects pulled the victim from his vehicle. The victim who possesses a valid concealed carry permit pulled out a handgun and fired at the suspects.
The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle and the white SUV. The victim’s vehicle came to a sudden stop and the suspects subsequently fled on foot before being picked up by the operator of the white SUV.
Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation. There was no indication that anyone was struck by gunfire.
As detectives were canvassing the area, a suspicious vehicle complaint was reported in the community of Londonderry Townhouses.
The caller reported that they observed three males and two females exit a white SUV before walking around the SUV with flashlights. When officers arrived, the suspects fled from a white Ford Edge (SUV) which was discovered to be stolen from the city of Wilmington.

A 15-year- old male suspect and an 18-year-old female suspect were apprehended a short distance away. The female suspect was identified as 18-year-old Asia Green. Both suspects were transported to police headquarters.
At police headquarters, detectives were able to uncover sufficient evidence to link these two suspects to the carjacking in Clearfield Village.
Both Asia Green (aka Taylor Thomas) and the 15-year-old male were charged with one count of felony Robbery 1st-Display What Appears to be a Deadly Weapon, one count of felony Aggravated Menacing, one count of felony Terroristic Threatening (Victim is 62 years old or older), and felony Conspiracy 2nd.
Green was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $15,000 secured bail.
The 15-year-old male was arraigned by the New Castle County Family Court and held in lieu of $50,000 cash-only bail.
