Responded to a home on Dovers Den in San Antonio for a welfare check on a woman, but Sheriff Javier Salazar said they weren’t able to get inside.
They also noticed that her vehicle was not at the home. With the help of a family member, authorities were able to gain access and reportedly found concerning evidence that led them to believe the mother and her child were in danger.
Deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) say that 32-year-old Savannah Kriger left work early Monday to pick up her son, 3-year-old Kaiden, at his daycare and take him to a doctor’s appointment.
Her white 2023 Lincoln Aviator was later found abandoned at Tom Slick Park off State Highway 151 East.
Investigators said they weren’t able to locate the mother or child overnight.
On March 19, park police continued the search and found the two bodies located near a ditch. Authorities haven’t fully confirmed they’re the Krigers. But they did say a gun was recovered at the scene.
This case is now being investigated as a murder-suicide and there are no outstanding suspects at this time.
Officials added that they believe there had been an ongoing custody battle for the child between the mother and father. A hearing was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
