Jenks Police arrest a man accused of pointing a shotgun at his neighbor and threatening to kill her and shoot and kill her dogs.
The arrest report for Joseph Merrell says the call went out yesterday around 6 PM.
The neighbor said after Merrell threatened to kill her dogs, he went into the house and came out carrying a 4 foot long gun and pointed it in her face, while messing with the trigger and she heard a click.
It says Merrell lives with his mother and while she wasn’t home at the time, she confirmed there was a shotgun in the house, but, she didn’t think it was operational.
It says Merrell smelled of alcohol and admitted getting into an argument but denied doing anything with a gun, but, showed officers where it was located, in a closet by the front door.
The report says it was not loaded, but, cycled and when the trigger was pulled, it clicked.
It says during the arrest, Merrell spit in the officer’s face, and kicked out the rear passenger side window on the way to jail and then tried to jump out that window while the patrol car was moving.
It says the officer called for EMS and after Merrell was evaluated, continued to jail and that’s when Merrell banged is face against the door and prisoner screen, causing a laceration.
It says the officer called EMS again and after being evaluated, Merrell was booked into jail.
He was booked for threatening a violent act, pointing a weapon with intent, aggravated assault and battery on a police officer and injury to property and putting human waste on a police officer.
