Police are investigating two break-ins in the northern suburbs and have released CCTV.
Just before 1am on Thursday 19 May, police were called to a building supplies business premises on Main North Road at Gepps Cross after reports of an alarm activation.
Western District patrols arrived and noticed entry was gained into the yard by ramming the gates of the property.
The offenders proceeded to ram the roller door leading into the warehouse.
Fortunately motion sensors and lights were activated and the offenders left the area without gaining access to the warehouse.
The car believed to have been involved in the ram raid is a white Volvo SUV with a black roof.
About 1.10am, patrols were called to a recycling depot on Waterloo Corner Road, Burton after reports that suspects had used a strap attached to a white Nissan Navara ute to pull a safe out of an office.
The safe was too heavy and was discarded nearby.
The ute then drove off and was found about 10 minutes later in Alana Court where it had been abandoned and set on fire. It had been stolen from St. Georges in the morning of Sunday 15 May.
Police are investigating links between these incidents and other break-ins that have occurred where vehicles have been used to gain entry to businesses.
