Three climbers have died and 8 have been found alive after a group of 19 people got stuck on Mount Elbrus Thursday at an altitude of 5,400 meters – the climbers requesting assistance due to worsening weather as tempertaures dropped to -20c. (RIA Novosti)

Distressing footage from the Ministry of Emergency Situations shows agency workers attempting to rescue the climbers in horrific conditions – with high winds causing blizzards and creating treacherous visibility levels.

Early reports allege that the guide who had accompanied the group of inexperienced climbers in their ascent – ABANDONED them, according to the high-mountain search and rescue team. (TASS)
