Peng has not been seen in public since posting accusations against frmr vice Premier Zhang Gaoli on her Weibo account, which was shut down in mins. Peng and Gaoli had a reported affair for years.
Chinese state media posted a statement purportedly from Peng on Wednesday, denying the earlier claims of sexual assault that were alleged to have happened over 10 years ago.
