Paris attacks lone survivor suspect tells court he is “a soldier of the Islamic State”
Security has been ramped up in Paris with the start of the trial for 20 men accused of being involved in the 2015 terrorist attacks at the Bataclan music theater and other venues.
The defendants include the alleged lone survivor from the attacks, Salah Abdelsalem.
The so-called Islamic State (IS) atrocities killed 130 people and injured hundreds more on Nov. 13, 2015, when 9 gunmen and suicide bombers struck within minutes of each other.
Abdelsalem is expected to be the key defendant in the trial and is the only suspect charged with murder – arriving in court on Wednesday he said: “I gave up my job to become an Islamic State soldier.”
