Parents Charged After Leaving 7-Month-Old Baby In Tub Alone With Water Running
A 7-month-old Texas boy that was left in a tub unattended by his parents with the water running has died, according to reports.
The Bexar County Examiner confirmed the child passed away at the hospital.
The tragic incident happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at a home off Starcrest Drive near Northeast Loop 410 in San Antonio.
According to the arrest report, Estevan Flores, the victim’s father, told police he placed the child in the tub and left him with the water running. Both parents said they knew the little boy was in the tub. Flores even told police he walked by the bathroom several times.
A short time later, Estevan and his wife, 29-year-old Michelle Sallin, found the baby boy floating unresponsive in the tub. The tub was completely filled with water and was overflowing into the next room.
A witness said they were talking with Sallin via cell and video calls. They said they saw both parents for about 15 minutes not knowing that the little boy was still in the tub, according to the arrest report.
A short time later, Sallin video called the witness again showing the little boy “pale and unresponsive” on a bed. Neither parent was giving CPR or any life-saving measures to the child.
Sallin and Flores were both charged with injury to a child. Sallin’s bond is listed at $50,000, while Flores, who was arrested Thursday afternoon, faces a $100,000 bond.
Officials say the couple could face even more charges.
