Indiana – Officials say the infants initial injuries led to an investigation where both of the couples children’s, the six-week-old and a two-year-old, were removed from their custody and examined by doctors specialized in child abuse cases.
An Evansville couple has been arrested after police say their six-week-old child was found to have a “bloody scab” and “torn frenulum.”
They say the scans showed fractures to the infant’s left and right clavicle, 11 rib fractures and what doctor’s called a “bucket-handle” fracture to his left leg, ruling the injuries to likely be from non-accidental trauma.
The Indiana Department of Child Services received the report of the potential physical abuse back in August, and the children were quickly removed from the home
Over the next few months, police say they conducted interviews on September 23, September 26 and October 4.
Detectives spoke with the couple, 25-year-old Khylee Greubel and 31-year-old Deshaunte Huzzel Hull, on September 23 about the injuries, and they told officials the child had fallen off their bed several times while changing their diapers.
On November 7, they say the couple declined to interview again.
Authorities say then two felony warrants were served for the two on Friday, December 21 at their home.
Police say during the arrest, Greubel interfered with an officer putting Hull into custody, and she resisted being put into cuffs.
Greubel and Hull were charged with neglect of a dependent, while Greubel now faces additional charges of resisting law enforcement and battery of a public official.
