Over 100 officials QUIT in Tunisia from the country’s largest party!
Former ministers and top officials are among 113 to resign from the Ennahda Party, the biggest in Tunisia’s parliament, over a failed common front to oppose President Kais Saied.
The joint statement on Saturday came as the party has been split in response to Saied’s sacking of the government and suspension of parliament back in July – in a move many have described as a coup.
Among those who have quit are eight lawmakers and several ex-ministers, including Tunisia’s former health minister.
Ennahda has been the most powerful political party since the 2011 revolution.
