An Assistant District Attorney with Orleans Parish DA’s office has died by an apparent suicide sources have confirmed.
WWL Louisiana can confirm that the D.A. assistant’s identity is Ian Kersting.
According to the New Orleans Police Department’s Major Offense Log, a brief document outlying overnight crimes and sent to media outlets, the incident was reported as a suicide Saturday around 9 p.m. at a location on South White Street.
The NOPD initial report said the victim was found suffering from an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.” EMS arrived on the scene and pronounced him deceased.
