An Oregon man convicted of dozens of sex crimes against little girls has been sentenced to almost 300 years in prison.
Tristan Ray Stanton, 34, was sentenced by Judge Ann Marie Simmons of Douglas County, Oregon, to 275 years in prison on Tuesday after he was convicted of 29 sex crime counts involving four young girls dating back to 2014, according to the New York Post.
Stanton was slapped with 10 sentences of 25 years for seven counts of first-degree sodomy and three counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration.
“I work very hard to find a place to work encouragement into my sentence, but there is absolutely nothing in this case that I find redeeming,” Simmons said during the sentencing. “There is nothing I can say to them or say to you that can make anything better. There was nothing good that came of this.”
Douglas County District Attorney Rick Wesenberg told the judge to “honor these girls” before the decision was made, adding, “They will never be the same.” After the ruling, he referred to the stiff sentence as “unheard of.”
In January 2020, a woman told local police that her daughter had an inappropriate relationship with a man at home, which sparked the investigation into Stanton. Later, three other girls accused him of sexual abuse. It is believed that at least two other girls were also victimized.
“I can’t tell you as I’m standing here how many more children he’s had at,” Wesenberg shouted in the courtroom while pointing at Stanton. “None of these girls could come and speak to you today, but they were so brave to come in and talk in front of that jury.”
