Minneapolis Park Police say one man is dead after a vehicle was discovered on a Mississippi River embankment Sunday morning.
According to a press release, police and the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to a car crash call at E 33rd Street and W River Parkway just before 8:00 a.m.
Responders, upon arrival, located a vehicle at the bottom of a steep embankment partially submerged in the river. A deceased man was discovered in the vehicle according to the release.
Minneapolis Fire is working to recover the vehicle from the riverbank. Authorities say the parkway will remain closed between 31st and 35th streets.
Park Police say they are still trying to determine when the crash happened.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will confirm the identity of the victim and determine the cause of death.
