Source – The Japanese two-way player, who has focused on slugging in 2024, has hit 54 home runs, drove in 130 runs and maintained a batting average of .310 throughout the year whilst also managing to steal 59 bases too.
Shohei Ohtani, as he appeared to dislocate his shoulder including those of the New York Yankees’ fans, who were quite happy to see that.
The Los Angeles Dodgers may have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the World Series but all eyes turned to the injury to their star hitter.
But some Yankees fans were not feeling compassionate towards their star rival as a bar full of supporters watching on a big screen began to cheer and jeer at the stricken hitter and pitcher, including one making an obscene gesture in a video that went viral online.
Fortunately, sports fans in general wasted no time in calling out the behavior via X.com, formerly known as Twitter.
One user wrote, “Stay classy New York.”
Whilst a second added, “Classless pieces of s**t. Hope they get swept.”
And a third said, “I’m a Yankees fan and I can’t stand Ohtani, however, those who cheered that he got hurt are PATHETIC!”
It remains to be seen whether Shohei Ohtani will reappear for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2024 World Series as they look to take a commanding lead in Game 3 against the New York Yankees.
The contest will take place on Monday, October 28 live from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx as New York heads home.
