Ohio Mother And Daughter Charged After Newborn Baby’s Body Found In Trunk
A grand jury returned an indictment against a 19-year-old woman and her 36-year-old mother for allegedly suffocating a newborn and placing him in the trunk of a car.
On Wednesday, Sept. 20, Norwich Township Fire Department paramedics responded to a home on Paxton Drive South after receiving a call about a medical emergency and determined a woman had recently given birth.
Hilliard Police officers went to the residence and discovered a child inside a car in the backyard.
Police began CPR on the newborn before he was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
According to court documents cited by WCMH-TV, Basma Abdul Karim Alkelezli, 36, gave birth then allegedly put the newborn boy in a trash bag.
She allegedly asked her daughter, Hanan Ahmad Al Jabouli, to get rid of the child’s body.
Al Jabouli reportedly left him in the trash bag, placed him in a large bucket, and put him in the trunk of the car.
Court records show both women were indicted on charges of aggravated murder, murder, strangulation or suffocation, endangering children, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse.Â
Alkelezli has also been charged with an additional count of endangering children and involuntary manslaughter, while Al Jabouli is charged with obstructing justice.
