RawNews1st – Louisville woman is under arrest after authorities say she tried to sneak thousands of dollars worth of drugs into the city’s jail.
Keanna Decius was arrested on Aug. 26 and charged with promoting contraband and trafficking in a controlled substance.
According to metro corrections, she was released from the jail the following day. However, they said she was arrested again on Aug. 29 for attempting to sneak in more drugs.
“I want folks that are doing it to know, when we catch you, we are going to charge you,” said jail director, Jerry Collins.
When Collins took over earlier this year, he made sure to place an emphasis on stopping illegal drugs from entering the facility. One of the ways he planned to do so, was by closely examining mail coming in.
“We have a whole group of folks that are specifically investigating drug interdiction every day, because it is such a challenge,” Collins said.
Decius was attempting to smuggle in tabs of Suboxone.
“We were able to intercept a total of 48 Suboxone strips from the two incidents,” said Collins.
According to Collins, her plan was to mail the strips to inmates Garrett minefield and Robert Richardson, so they could sell them and make a profit.
Collins said she went to great lengths to make it work, including forging mail to make it look like it came from the two men’s attorneys.
