RawNews1st – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two Toronto area residents and seized approximately $100,000 worth of drugs as a result of a traffic stop in the City of Orillia.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Orillia OPP Detachment were on general patrol when they initiated a traffic stop after observing a Highway Traffic Act offence.
Upon arrest of the two occupants, a search was conducted. Further investigation revealed that one occupant was not complying with their release order.
Officers seized approximately 1.1kg of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $100,000.
Officers also seized 85g of cannabis and brass knuckles.
As a result of the investigation, Denneil MORGAN, age 41, of North York has been charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Cannabis Act and Criminal Code (CC):
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine- Section 5(2) CDSA
Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose- Section 88 CC
Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling- Section 10(2) Cannabis Act
Failure to comply with release order- other than attend court- Section 145(5)(a) CC
Failure to comply with release order- other than attend court- Section 145(5)(a) CC
Stephanie ALVARDO, age 32, of Toronto had been charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine- Section 5(2) CDSA
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Opioid- Section 5(2) CDSA
Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose- Section 88 CCC
Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling- Section 10(2) Cannabis Act
