NK Food Supply at PERILOUS Level (Report)
Poor harvests have cast North Korea’s “tense” food supply situation into perilous levels according to analysts and UN experts, exacerbated by Chinese aid trickling at around 10% of monthly levels from two years ago. (Reuters)
A UN rights investigator reported that sanctions imposed over the country’s nuclear weapon development were to blame for worsening the supply chain, and urged the international community to ease them to avoid a crisis.
In recent weeks Pyongyang has tested a number of ballistic missiles while also building a major addition to its main nuclear facility, which analysts suspect could be used to enrich weapons-grade uranium.
