Nicholas Robinson has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for 2nd degree murder in a drunk driving crash that killed ORU soccer player, Eugene Quaynor.
Eugene’s parents sent a victim impact statement to the judge from Ghana, where they live.
Part of it said, Eugene “lived happily and was always respectful.
He tried his best to make his siblings proud. They described him as a leader and hope Eugene’s soul can now rest in peace.”
Prosecutors call the crime a “horrific situation” and said the last few moments of Eugene’s life were caused by the decisions Nicholas Robinson made that day.
Robinson will need to serve 85% of the sentence before he’s eligible for parole.
