NHS Covid app storing FACIAL RECOGNITION data on govt-linked firm’s servers (Report)
The data harvesting is being undertaken by a company called iProov, which has yet to be published on the government’s website, the Guardian has uncovered.
Law enforcement agencies are legally able to request personal data from the company, but only after a panel reviewed individual requests – NHS spokesperson claims.
The app asks users to upload their date of birth, post code, phone number and a photo of either their passport or driving license during the sign-up process.
The app also requests some users for facial verification by default.
