A new trailer for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” has arrived.
The official trailer for the follow-up to the 2018 global phenomenon was unveiled on Monday.
The trailer, as it tells the emotional story of the loss of the late Chadwick Boseman’s character, the son king, T’Challa, also teases the next Black Panther, while not directly revealing the new protector of the African nation of Wakanda.
A mural of King T’Challa appears at one stage in the trailer, as Marvel Studios is making good on having the sequel be a tribute to the late Boseman, whose character was not recast for the sequel.
As the teaser did, the trailer shows the technologically advanced African kingdom coming to grips with the loss of King T’Challa, who was played by the late Chadwick Boseman.
It also shows conflict with another kingdom, Atlantis, and its leader, Namor, played by series newcomer Tenoch Huerta. Namor, the Sub-Mariner, first made a splash in Marvel Comics #1, back in 1939.
“His people do not call him general or king. They call him Kukulkan. The feather serpent god,” cautions Winston Duke’s M’Baku. “Killing him will risk eternal war!”
According to Coogler, “The film deals with a lot of things, but one of them is foils — people who exist in contrast, but there’s a thread of similarity.”
“In this film, we get to see Shuri meet someone who has some things in common with her, but is also very, very different,” he added, seemingly referring to the new character of Riri Williams/Ironheart (Dominque Thorne).
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters Nov. 11.
