NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been hospitalized after a fall at a concert, according to TMZ. He suffered a broken hip, per his representative.
Abdul-Jabbar, 76, was reportedly attended to by paramedics before he was transported to a Los Angeles hospital. His condition wasn’t disclosed.
His representative, Deborah Morales, told TMZ that he was “deeply appreciative” of the Los Angeles Fire Department’s support and the “amazing medical team and doctors at UCLA Hospital who are taking great care of [him].”
In 20 NBA seasons, Abdul-Jabbar won six NBA titles as a star center with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers.
One of the greatest players in league history, Abdul-Jabbar a six-time NBA MVP and 19-time All-Star. In college, he won three national titles for John Wooden at UCLA.
In 2020, Abdul-Jabbar revealed he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The following year, he was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation.
Back in 2008, he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia — though, he revealed the cancer was under control three years later.
