A mother who left her 16-month-old daughter at home alone for days while she went on vacation will serve a life sentence for Jailyn Candelario’s murder.
Kristel Candelario received a life sentence to prison on Monday. Last month, Candelario pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and child endangerment as part of a plea deal with Cuyahoga County prosecutors.
County Common Pleas Court Judge Brendan Sheehan told Candelario she committed “the ultimate betrayal” by leaving her daughter alone without food.
It’s been less than a year since Jailyn was found dead in a playpen on a liner soiled with urine and feces with soiled blankets.
