After being charged with felony child neglect and recklessly leaving a firearm so as to endanger a child, the mother of the 6-year-old Virginia boy who shot his teacher said that she will fully cooperate with law enforcement.
A grand jury indicted Deja Taylor, 25, on Monday for the shooting at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia, on January 6.
Her child shot 1st grade educator Abigail Zwerner, who has since recuperated however is suing the sc XDhool for $40 million.
The child was not charged by the prosecution, but Taylor was charged three months after the shocking incident.
Taylor, who lawfully bought the gun that her child utilized in the shooting, has to deal with upwards of six years in jail assuming she’s sentenced for every one of the charges.
According to her attorney James Ellenson, who spoke with the Daily Press, “Deja has cooperated from the first day of the incident.”

“The continued health and wellbeing of all persons involved in the incident at Richneck Elementary School, including the teacher and Deja’s son,” Ellenson stated, “is the priority.”
Her lawyer said Taylor is going to turn herself in sometime this week. Investigators are requesting her bail to be set at $5,000.
Ellenson stated, “This is a good first step toward a just resolution of the charges.”
